Terms and conditions of sale

Independent service, not affiliated with or endorsed by Dun & Bradstreet. You can get this number for free on your own.

This is a courtesy translation. The French version is the only one that binds the parties, and French law governs the contract. Where the two differ, the French text prevails. Read the French version.

1. Purpose

The provider offers two services. The search consists of searching the Dun & Bradstreet database for the D-U-N-S® number of the entity designated by the customer, and communicating the result of that search. The creation, offered for an entity established in one of the following countries: Botswana, Eswatini, Kenya, Namibia, and South Africa, consists of submitting on the customer's behalf, under their mandate, a request for the creation of a D-U-N-S number to the local Dun & Bradstreet partner of the entity's country, by email, on the basis of the information the customer enters when ordering, the registration certificate they upload afterwards and, where applicable, any further information they provide. Neither service constitutes the assignment of a number: assignment remains the prerogative of Dun & Bradstreet alone, which may refuse it. A company may itself request the creation of its number directly from Dun & Bradstreet, free of charge; what the customer pays for is the process carried out on their behalf.

2. No guarantee of result

Not every company holds a D-U-N-S number. The provider is bound by an obligation of means and guarantees no result. The search may legitimately conclude that the number sought does not exist, without this amounting to non-performance. Likewise, the local Dun & Bradstreet partner may refuse a creation request, without this amounting to non-performance; the order is then refunded under the terms of clause 3.

3. Creation of the number

The price of the creation is US$99.00 excl. tax. After payment, the customer receives by email the link to a personal space, where they upload the entity's registration certificate, a valid proof of address (electricity, water or internet bill, or notarised rental agreement) and the Dun & Bradstreet questionnaire, which they download there, complete and sign, as PDF, JPEG or PNG files, and review the information that will be submitted. The customer mandates the provider to file the request on their behalf through the box they tick before payment; they confirm it in that space by ticking the box by which they certify that the documents are those of the designated entity and that the information is accurate. The provider then reviews the request and submits it by email to the local Dun & Bradstreet partner, with the documents attached, within one business day. The number is communicated by email within 10 to 35 days of that submission, excluding the partner's annual closure periods (Botswana: 15 December to 15 January; Eswatini: 15 December to 15 January; Kenya: 15 December to 15 January; Namibia: 15 December to 15 January; South Africa: 15 December to 15 January). This period is indicative, the provider being bound by an obligation of means. The partner may contact the entity to verify the request, and may ask for further information, which the customer provides in their personal space. The customer has 14 days from payment to upload these documents, and 14 days from any request for further information to reply; they are reminded by email one, five and ten days after each request. Failing an upload or a reply within that period, the order is refunded in full, automatically. The refund is also in full if the partner refuses to create the number. Where the creation was ordered from a search that found no number and whose price was deducted, any full refund of the creation also includes the refund of that search. If the entity already holds a D-U-N-S number, that number is communicated to the customer and the order remains payable, without refund. No refund is due once the number has been communicated. Uploaded documents are erased when the file is closed.

4. Price and taxes

The price of a search depends on the country of the designated entity: US$29.00 excl. tax for an entity established in one of the following countries: Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates; US$29.99 excl. tax for an entity established in Switzerland; US$19.99 excl. tax for an entity established in any other country covered. The price of a creation is US$99.00 excl. tax. The applicable price is displayed on the form and on the order summary, before payment. Value added tax is added to it: it is calculated at the time of payment according to the customer's country, under the applicable rules. The total amount, taxes included, is displayed before the payment is confirmed, and it is that amount which is charged.

5. Delivery time

The result of a search is communicated within 1 hour, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, from the confirmation of payment by the payment provider. This period is suspended for any time during which the provider is awaiting information requested from the customer, and resumes upon receipt of the reply. A creation request is submitted to the partner as soon as the registration certificate is uploaded, and the number is communicated within an indicative period of 10 to 35 days of that submission, excluding the partner's closure periods; this period is suspended while further information requested from the customer is awaited.

6. Refunds

Where the search concludes that no D-U-N-S number exists for the designated entity, the customer chooses, through the secure link sent to them by email, between a full refund and support: the immediate provision of a guide to obtaining a D-U-N-S number, together with answers to their questions by email within 24 hours, provided instead of the refund. The choice of support is recorded by a box the customer ticks to expressly waive the refund; it is final. In the countries where the creation service is offered, the customer may also order, through the same link, the creation of the D-U-N-S number: the price of the search, excluding tax, is then deducted from the price of the creation. That choice takes effect on payment of the difference, instead of a refund of the search, and it is final; the creation order it opens is governed by clause 3. A payment for the creation started before the deadline for the choice may be completed within thirty minutes of being opened. Failing a choice within 7 days, the full refund is made automatically. The refund is also full and automatic where the file is closed for want of a reply from the customer to a request for information within 7 days. Refunds of a creation are governed solely by clause 3. Refunds are made to the payment method used when ordering.

7. Limitation of liability

The provider's liability is limited to the amount of the order, namely the price excluding tax paid for it, whatever the basis of the claim. The provider cannot be held liable for decisions taken by third parties, in particular Dun & Bradstreet, its local partners, Apple, Google or any principal, in the light of the information communicated.

8. Accuracy of the information provided

The customer warrants that they are authorised to act on behalf of the designated entity and is answerable for the accuracy of the information they enter and of the documents they upload. A search carried out on erroneous information remains payable. The provider flags any manifest inconsistency to the customer before concluding. The website and the registration documents, three at most, that the customer may optionally attach to the order are used only to fulfil it: the customer warrants that they are entitled to provide them. Their content is erased when the file is closed.

9. Delivery

The result is communicated to the email address entered when ordering, and to that address alone. No forwarding to another address is carried out, including at the customer's request, save on written request from the original address.

10. Right of withdrawal

As the service begins on payment, the customer expressly requests its immediate performance before paying; for a creation, performance begins with the preparation of the request, submitted to the partner as soon as the certificate is uploaded. Where the customer acts as a consumer, a customer ordering a search thereby expressly waives their right of withdrawal, in accordance with articles L221-25 and L221-28 of the French Consumer Code. A consumer ordering a creation, a service that is not completed before the end of the withdrawal period, keeps that right for 14 days from the order; if they exercise it, they pay an amount proportionate to the service provided until they communicate their decision, in accordance with article L221-25 of the same code. That request and, where applicable, that waiver are obtained before payment by a tick box that is never pre-ticked, without which payment cannot be started, and which constitutes acceptance of these terms. The right of withdrawal does not apply to a business customer acting in the course of their activity.

11. Personal data

The processing of the data provided, including its submission to the local Dun & Bradstreet partner for a creation, is described in the privacy policy, accessible from every page of the site.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought before any legal action, by writing to contact@firmpassport.com. Failing agreement, a consumer customer may refer the matter free of charge to a consumer mediator.
